The Indicadores da Qualidade na Educação constitute a methodology of institutional self-evaluation to involve the entire school community in processes of improvement of educational quality.
It is an instrument through which the community uses to evaluate the situation of different aspects of its school, identify priorities, establish action plans, implement and monitor its results.
The Indicadores da Qualidade na Educação were developed with the collaboration of several organizations that act in the educational field, NGOs, education secretariats, Ministry of Education bodies, UNICEF and professionals from schools in different regions of the country.
Specific instruments for thematic and educational levels have already been developed: Indicadores da Qualidade na Educação – Ensino Fundamental (2004) (Quality Indicators in Education – Basic Education), Indicadores da Qualidade na Educação – Educação Infantil (2009) (Quality Indicators in Education – Children Education) and Indicadores da Qualidade na Educação – Relações Raciais na Escola (2013)(Quality Indicators in Education – Racial Relations in the School). The Indicadores da Qualidade na Educação – Ensino Médio (Indicators of Quality in Education – High School) are under development. The uses of the indicators have demonstrated that the material can make the school community reflect together on the actions, attitudes and inputs needed to develop a quality education, starting from the reality of the individuals involved in the process.
