Ação Educativa and IBI Institute, with technical support from Dieese, started a partnership aiming at identifying the main changes and challenges in the process of insertion of young people into the world of work. More specifically, the purpose was to draw a national picture of the current status of young people in the formal and informal labor markets and to check the progress and limits of the actions taken by the public authorities.
Even in conjunctures such as the current one, of a major growth of the Brazilian economy, with a significant increase of formal jobs in the market, young people constitute one of the segments most affected by unemployment. But this publication intends to go beyond the indicators that prove this condition. Apart from the difficulty of finding a vacancy in the labor market, young people also find it difficult to get a good vacancy in this market. Many of them find jobs of poor quality, with low wages and long working hours. Therefore, one of the central aspects of this study is to make evident the reality experienced by young people in the world of work.
Ação Educativa and the IBI Institute intend to contribute to the accomplishment of an important right of young Brazilians: the right to work and, above all, to work in adequate conditions, with living wages and working hours that allow them to live their youth with all others rights they have, including the right to education and professional qualification, culture and leisure.
