Educação de pessoas privadas de liberdade (Education of persons deprived of their liberty)

Although guaranteed in national and international standards, the right to education of persons deprived of their liberty is still little effective in Brazil.

Therefore, the purpose of this project is to expand the human right to quality education to the population deprived of liberty in the country, which includes adolescents in socio-educational measures and young people and adults in the prison system.

It also intends to generate concrete references and subsidies for the thematic through interventions in five dimensions: developing and disseminating appropriate proposals for contexts of deprivation of liberty; identifying demand for schooling; conducting social control of laws and guidelines for the education of persons deprived of their liberty; strengthening civil society in defense of human rights; and supporting educators working in prisons and juvenile detention facilities to report violations of rights suffered by their students.
